30 Followers福岡出身、ミュージシャンであった父の影響で、幼い頃から音楽全般に親しむ。上京後、Koyumi（コユミ）というアーティスト名でクラブシーンにて活動。avexが主催する「STARZAUDITION 2008」の激戦を制し、優秀賞を獲得。2009年に発表した配信シングルがiTunes R＆Bチャート6位にランクイン、無名ながら快挙といえるチャートアクションを起こし「ため息がでるほどの恋わずらいソング」として話題となる。2011年、CD発売前に配信した曲が、2作連続でレコチョククラブうたランキング１位を記録、サナギから蝶になる姿に自分を重ね、Koyumi から 8utterfly（バタフライ）というステージネームに変えデビュー。
