I work all day as a soda jerk

On my feet all the time and oh man how they hurt

Don't make much but I sure get the news

I don't have much time for gettin' the blues

My friends drop in for sodas and pop

There'll all talking fancy about a new record hop

All day long I'm a fillin' orders

Takin' in nickels dimes and quarters

Cherry sodas and a chocolate shake

Strawberry sundaes and a lemon fast fake

Time to clean the fountain 'cause it's almost five
