clouds veil emerald sky

leaves strewn in yellow lie

秋色连波波上寒烟翠

waves rise in autumn hue

and blend with mist cold and green in view

山映斜阳天接水

the hills against the sun dye

the sky meets with the waves

芳草无情更在斜阳外

sweet grass seems cruel to

the eyes of those who roam

beyond the sunny sky
