One Christmas Eve the child said to me

About the cold night

With no place to go

The Light of the World

Was born in Bethlehem

And wrapped Him in swaddling clothes

And laid Him in a manger

And there were in the same country

Shepherds abiding in the fields

Keeping watch over their flocks by night

And they were so afraid

And the angel said unto them

Fear not

For behold I bring you good tidings of great joy

Which shall be to all people

For unto you is born this day

In the City of David a Savior

Which is Christ the Lord

And this shall be a sign unto you

Ye shall find the Babe wrapped in swaddling clothes

Lying in a manger

And suddenly there appeared with the angel

A multitude of heavenly hosts

Praising God and saying

Glory glory to God

On earth peace and goodwill

So little one

The Savior was born

Born in Bethlehem

Born the King of the world
