I sit staring at a cold sun

Forcing it's rays through the stitches of a grey veil

The sky below is deep but the shades pale

The wind rushes through my spirit like a ship's sail

I'm submerged in this city

Connect with the earth under pavement

Searching for nature

I meditate on road under streetlights

Sit writing and chanting my mantras beneath trees

Forged with the souls of the ancients

I thrive off their wisdom

I drink from the infinite stream of existence

Strive to sync my moves with the flow of the Tao

As it was then is as it is now

And as it will be then

Beyond the grasp of women and men

We live our lives in routines that only end when we do

To keep our hearts beating

Sleep wake breathe air eat food

We reproduce

Then what we produce reproduces

Grow up like we did wondering what life and truth is

We look out of the windows of our Souls

Setting chasing goals

As time shifts through decades centuries millennia

Spread out behind and ahead of ya

Eternally

We focus on our tiny lives searching for what our purpose be

Tryna buld something worthwhile before our time's done

For some life's a war

They wanna say that they've won

For some life's a test

They wanna say that they've passed

For some life's an idea

They wanna say that they've grasped

But can we

With all our weaknesses and limits

Tryna overstand the infinite in lives merely made of minutes

Tryna bring existence to a level we can wrap our head round

Capture the universe in words we can sound

Over simplifying the thing that is the most complex

Imagine life in our image

Compress it into concepts

Kind of insane

We live and die on this plane so we claim

Everything must be subject to the same

The universe is in a state of constant change

Yet things that have always been

Might have always been

And may always remain

Life works in cycles or circles or spheres

We try place limits on the infinite to deal with our fear

Of not knowing

And knowing that we don't know

We make facts from theories and lies

To get on with our lives

Ask for answers we could never start to overstand

Live following some next heads guess

Serving their plans

Making worse the situation that we try to mend

We disregard or bend forces we can't even comprehend

Never mind explain

Or act in their name

Or know what they think or say

Guess it's the human way

Leads some to wage war and some to claim they don't exist

Claiming all we see is all there is

No higher force

But maybe we're too small to see the scale of it

The sun don't chill or set we turn away from it

What we call truth now ain't all there is

Maybe every theory's right and wrong

Balanced opposites

The battle constantly but opposites attract

For every action there an opposite that's equal and exact

Opposites in perfect balance keep the universe in tact

Life death being non-being

Maybe we live forever and for just a passing bit

Maybe we're the whole universe and just a part of it

Maybe we're nothing and everything that's ever been

All and nothing

All that exists without exists within

Maybe when you realise your nothing you can learn to see

That you are everything

Everything that you will ever need
