When I met you long ago there were things I didn't know

But how was I to know how I would feel

When you made a goin' rough it made me see I had it tough

It makes me wonder did I turn down a better deal

If I had another chance to think it over

I'm sure I'd found someone with more appeal

There are things I really crave nice things you never gave

It makes me wonder did I turn down a better deal

There's been others in my life who offered more to be their wife

Fine things and true love was their deal

But I took you instead I don't know why but I just did

Now and then I meet an old flame and I wonder

If I should let him know just how I feel

But I know it's wrong somehow another gives him her love now

And I still wonder did I turn down a better deal
