The lyrics illustrate Roye’s talent for astute social observation, following the story of a teenager caught between an alien adult world 'Conform to the uniform/Clothes make the man but the man ain't me/And it fits so tightly', and the allure of making easy money through dealing, 'Out on the streets I make a minute/won't you put a whole month in/ That's what he's telling me...'
