On the hiwassee river

There's a little white church

Sittin' up on the hill

It's where I got baptized

Where I last saw my gramma

Where I learned amazing grace

Sittin' in a pew real still

Across the red covered

Bridge twenty eight years ago

Mom and dad said I do in this very room

Now here I stand

Holdin' your tremblin' hand

Thankin' the lord above

That he made you

Across the red covered

Bridge is a world unknown

Well walk it together and make us a home

When we can't find our way

We won't have to search

Just cross that red covered bridge

To this little white church

Across the red covered bridge

Well bring our little family

And sit together on the second

Pew and well all sing

Until the end of time
