Living 'neath the shadow

Of a tree one hundred years old

Thousands of tales to be told

But none to be heard

Three generations

Have stood and gazed at this tree

Not knowing that they couldn't see

Or hear a word

Man suffers age

But his mind never waits

And the time never waits

For the people to see

People in a hurry

To be what they'll never be

They ought to be able to see

That they'll never change

Minds all confused

Wondering when it will end

The tree just blows in the wind

And waits for the rain

People don't know

That they move way too slow

And the skies always snow

But not on the tree
