Gerhard Heinz

Gerhard Heinz started as young composer in the sixties. He worked for Polydor as Producer and as a singing coach for non german speaking schlager stars like Conny Francis, Milva, Rita Pavone, Domenico Modugno but also for Peter Kraus or Freddy Quinn. 1961 was his first time to compose scores for German (mostly from Munich) and Austrian movies. These were mostly B and C movies in the category "Comedy" or sleazy "Soft-**** Action Thriller". He traveled a lot between Vienna and Munich. He soon was THE composer for the early attempts of the **** film industry. The music was very soul jazzy and had great funk and disco influences. All together he composed over 130 movies scores for all different kinds of films. In the late seventies, he travelled a lot between Vienna and London. He also contributed the score to one of Otto Retzer movies, a movie about drug abuse of young teenagers (3 Mädchen vom Bahnhof Zoo). In the late eigties he worked with one of Austrias most recognable directors, Franz Antel. He wrote the score to the deep Viennese 4 part classic "Der Bockerer". A masterpiece of Austrian film history. The last part got made in 2003.
