This cigarette's an afterthought and the smoke is getting in my eyes

And no one in the room seems to notice but

I guess they think I'm mesmerized

By all the sparkles in her eyes so I come off seeming lonely and bored

But you may find I'm writing down her every line

This party's getting musty and stale

He asked me if we could get some fresher air

Cause everyone knows it's best not to come with us

To our UFO landing party

And as we drink champagne under the moon

We're giving off some signs that we won't ever comprehend

But all this time I feel the chills up my spine

Cause I know that she is reading my mind

Looking down like they're in on the joke

Fixing what isn't broke and hey I don't even smoke oh woah

Avoiding men in black suits is mulder and scully about

She's looking awfully cute so much I nearly black out

I'm trying hard but it's the air that you breathe

You suffocate me alienate everybody you see

You're invading my mind close encounter

Third kind asking me for a ride back to your home

I can feel me getting lighter than air

And I know real soon that we will be outta here

And I don't mind leaving my old world behind

I came back to play on NASA's door cause she forgot

Her keys to her flying saucer

She left them at the party that night now we're leaving

I'm not putting up a fight

So I'm living on the edge of space with some folk who

You could call an alien race

And you may find I'm having one hell of a time
