Tis of a Wild Colonial Boy Jack Doolan was his name

Of poor but honest parents he was borns in Castlemaine

He was his father's only hope and his mother's pride and joy

In May of 1841 left his native home

All over Victoria's sountryside a bushranger to roam

He stuck up the Beechworth mailcoach and robbed Judge McEvoy

One day as he was riding the coutryside along

Listening to the kookaburra's happy laughing song

He spied three mounted troopers Kelly David and Fitzroy

With a warrant fot the capture of the Wil Colonial Boy

Surrender now Jack Doolan can't you see there's three to one

Surrender in the Queen's name for you're a plundering son

Jack drew a pistol from missing belt and he swung it like a toy

I'll fight but never surrender cried the Wil Colonial Boy

So he fired at trooper Kelly and he brought him to the ground

And in returm from Davis he received a mortal woynd

He lay all shattered through the jaw still firing at Fitzroy

And that's the way they captured him the Wild Colonial Boy
