Cloaked in black

The creature spreads it's filth

Plagues the mind of any weakened will

Always searching for new ground

Never protects what he's already found

As the air gets colder

You dig inside the vein

Squeezing out the fire

Sucking out a name

When your teeth clench

Your bones are the first to break

Just when you thought

You had collected all your skin

Your body fell away

And I bet you never thought

Your blood was so thin

You crawl to the highest branch

With the roots between your teeth

You stare into the void

Looking for the soil at your feet

You have spun your web

So strong that nothing escapes

Save the one for which you long

Spider predator in black

All your eyes are blind to what you lack

You stand on the shoulders

Of those who cannot stand

And if you grow older

You'll need another plan

But the source from which you draw

Is closer than you think

I know you never truly saw

That blood stained crippling link

That source has been running dry

For as long as you could find it's throat

And if you see that throat in the mirror

Will you continue to choke
