Taylor Thrash

Hello world. I’m Taylor Thrash. I’m 21 years old livin’ in a small town in North Texas. I am a full time singer/songwriter/rapper/vigilante. This is my story told by me. I began writing songs in high school to impress a girl and joined the choir just to be in another class with her. I performed in a talent show when I was 15 and that was the first time I had ever sung in front of people. Writing songs always came easily and my singing voice was ok so I started a couple bands in high school. At the end of my senior year of high school, I got a scholarship to play tennis in college. I moved in to school and dropped out 11 days later. I got an opportunity in Los Angeles, California to work in the industry and build a band. I’m sure my parents wanted to punch me in the face, but they were completely supportive. I decided I was half talented and half delusional and so far that’s been working out. I’ve been broke too many times to count. I’ve been promised the world, power, money, or anything a kid in his early twenties dreams of and nothing comes of it. For a couple years after living in california, I did my best to surface as an artist and writer. I released an EP and a couple singles, went on a few tours, and met some wonderful people. I came to a crossroads in January 2012 right after my 21st birthday. I had no money, no plan, and no idea where to take my career. I got a job working in loan mitigation and still couldn’t tell you what that even f**king means. I would wake up to go to work at 6am, get off at 5pm, drive an hour to the studio and record with my friend John until 3am. By some act of God, miracle, or whatever you want to call it, I got in a meeting about publishing with a local songwriter JR Denson at Twin Peaks. The food sucks. I learned a ton about songwriting and other opportunities in the industry to make something work. Since that day in February I met JR, he has been my manager and one of my best friends. I was approached by PeerMusic Publishing in March 2012 at SXSW and I got a meeting at the Four Seasons. At this point I was -$640.00 in my bank account receiving overdraft calls from my bank 14 times a day. I had quit my job to go on tour and play 4 showcases at SXSW. I ended up getting the deal and am currently working as a full time songwriter. I’ve started rapping and diving in to a whole different side of writing. I’ve played the Vans Warped Tour, Never Say Never Festival, and shared the stage with some of the world’s top artists. I’ve had fans that have stuck with me since day 1 and love/support me no matter where I am in this crazy journey. I’m going to release my first album Step Forward August 21st under SpaceCamper Records, my own label imprint alongside my manager JR Denson. Step Forward is a collection of songs that I’ve written over the last two years describing the things I’ve gone through with love and without it. The album title reflects my attitude towards my career, this record is just another step forward in the right direction. I’m extremely grateful to my family,friends, and people who talk shit. I appreciate all of you and couldn’t do what I do without you. I will succeed and accomplish everything I’ve said I would. I refuse to be the next, always striving to be the first. Still Taylor who writes songs and sings in Texas. Definitely in a violent street gang and my step mom is Vanessa Hudgens. Let’s see where things go from here. Much love sincerely.
