Alphabetic

It was from a Motel bed in the Caribbean that Alphabetic were dreamt up. Having been flown out there for another exhausting run of shows, Raph was worn out and tired of his musical routine. There was only one thing to do: Gather his childhood friends in a cabin in Italy and rework songs they had written as teenagers into the music he now loved as an adult. Over two weeks in October 2012, what would become Alphabetic did just that. The band broke cover in late 2013 with a string of successful debut shows in one of Dalston’s most respected clubs, The Nest. Since then, Alphabetic have built up a dedicated following at recent gigs across London and the South. This culminated in August with a 5 night stint at Secret Cinema’s production of Back to The Future, playing alongside Happiness. Their sound, built around the singing partnership of Walter Heale and Becca Lever, fuses ambient pop (The Cure, Talk Talk) with the dance savvy beats of mid 80s disco and soul to create an enrapturing live sound, driven forward by the animated and energetic drummer Jon Baxter. Alphabetic have big plans for the coming year. Good Lovers, Their first single from their forthcoming album will be released via the bands own label Bibliotheque Records on November 21st 2014. Produced by Toby McLaren (Led Bib, The Heavy, Kelis) the track showcases the bands innate ability to put together thoughtful songwriting, catchy hooks, a four to the floor rhythm section and hypnotic synths and guitars into a massive tune. The bands shoestring budget, DIY package will come with a 90s New Jack remix courtesy of bassist and synthesist Raph. Members: Walter Heale - Vocal/Guitar Jon Baxter - Drums/Synths Raph Chesterman - Synth/Bass Rebecca Lever - Vocals/Synths http://alphabeticband.com/ https://soundcloud.com/alphabetic-band https://www.facebook.com/alphabeticband http://alphabeticband.bandcamp.com/
