It's Gonna Rock...'cause That's What I Do

“Don’t Mess With A Big Band” 是 The Brian Setzer Orchestra 樂團2009年日本巡演錄製的一張激情四射的現場錄音。包含了他的最佳曲目和一些從未現場表演過的曲目。

　　生於紐約長島的Brian Setzer除了擔任主唱和吉他外, 也包辦大部分的詞曲創作, 同時也擁有一付典型的復古嗓音, 唱起Rockabilly式的搖滾還頗有一些貓王的神韻, 因此也引來更多的矚目. 所以便先單飛於10年代中期發行個人專輯The Knife Feels Like Justice, 著名的吉他手Steve Van Zant(Bruce Springsteen樂團)也為他抓刀寫歌, 該專輯獲得不錯的好評.
　　
　　當1994年Stray Cats宣告解散後, Setzer出了一張更復古的Swing風味專輯Brian Setzer Orchestra, 從專輯名稱便可知道這絕非簡單的樂器編制,因為瀰漫着大樂團(Big Band)的調性. 是一張獨特的專輯.由於這種復古的音樂頗受好評和叫座, 所以Setzer於1998年再以大樂團的型式出版一張The Dirty Boogie, 專輯內重唱了貓王的電影"賭城萬歲"中的歌曲You're the Boss, 由於原本是由貓王和安瑪格麗特對唱, 所以Setzer便找來No Doubt的主唱Gwen Stefani來搭檔, 雖然並無走紅, 但以Stefani目前的氣勢來看, 這首曲子倒相當具有意義.

　　另一個有趣的現象是: 他於1996年替阿諾史瓦辛格的電影"一路響叮噹"(Jingle All the Way)作了幾首曲子當配樂後, 似乎對聖誕歌曲蠻有興趣的,2002、2004和今年都出版了聖誕節應景專輯.

　　如果你喜歡Big band風格，我推薦你聽聽Brian Setzer的音樂。Brian Setzer的全名是The Brain Setzer Orchestra。樂隊裏，吉他手、BASS手、貝大提琴手、鼓手各一個，剩下全是管兒,長號,薩克斯,小號,總共有20多個人,加上2個女聲伴唱,陣容很龐大。主唱兼主音吉他Brain Setzer打扮一付ROCKABILLY狀,飛機頭,花的緊身襯衣,一把琴又SOLO又唱，聽上去特別豐滿。聽他的曲子,感覺就是一個穿着鬱金香狀晚裝裙子的金髮美人,塗很紅的嘴唇,戴着髮帶,穿很高的高跟鞋,她一進俱樂部,一切都靜止了,而當音樂想起,大家開始瘋狂起舞...
