Mother Tongue

You see me

On the other side of a cracked screen

Ripped jeans and bleeding

With a suntan from the TV

Dressed in my mother tongue

The static

Is a language and you start to understand it

Tacit in your mother tongue

You wonder if your life was automatic

Programmed by your mother tongue

Ooh la la la

Ooh la la la

Ooh la la la la la la la la la la

But that’s not really me

Denial is a pretty thing

Lithium and mercury

You are what you eat

Sincerely

I have always had this vanity inside me

Frightening to externalize

Loveless, you are helpless as a baby

Prey to your mother tongue

Romancing your mother tongue

Dancing with your mother tongue

But that cannot be me

Denial is a precious thing

Born again from what you breed

You are what you feed

Make me sleek and clean

Feel my touchscreen

Feed me batteries

Eat my memory

Make me sleek and clean

Feel my touchscreen

Feed me batteries

Eat my memory
