Mediavolo
Mediavolo is a duet. Géraldine is the lyricist and lead singer. She was part of several bands. Halloween, working with the French label Musea Music, is one of them. She also experienced various musical styles before joining Mediavolo. Jac composes, arranges, plays and produces the band’s music. He gathered a certain number of experiences in music writing: original soundtracks for short films, documentaries, and theatrical plays. Mediavolo started in Brest in 1999 and counted five members then: Phylémon (drums and lyrics), M. Dupraz (guitars and sound production), Jac (composition and arrangements), Fabrice (keyboards) replaced by Azraelle in 2000, and Géraldine (lead). The release of a self-produced 4 tracks CD Perdu dans l’espace (Lost in space) enables the band to draw the attention of a record label, Saravah Editions, based in Nantes in France, and thei first album Soleil sans Retour (Sun without return) is released in 2003. In 2004, soon after the recording of a new album which was not to be released, the band’s line-up is somewhat turned upside down. From the initial team, only Jac and Géraldine remain. The pair gives birth to A Secret Sound in September 2005, first album entirely in English. For the first time as well, they decide to contact foreign record labels. They sign with the German label Kalinkaland Records and release the album in 2006. The press and the public give a warm welcome to A Secret Sound, and the duet starts working on another project as soon as 2007. Several collaborations with the label Prikosnovénie will take place - "Nuit des Fées" and "Fairy world IV" - and eventually, Unaltered Empire is out, November 19th 2008. Mediavolo's ex and current collaborators Phylémon (1999 – 2006) Jac’s brother used to be the lyricist and drummer of the band. He was one of its founding members and took a great part in the creation of its universe and language. His departure, early in 2006, leads Jac and Géraldine to consider Mediavolo is a duet from then on. Phylémon already played with a band called Kanaan since 2002. He is still part of Kanaan today. M. Dupraz (1999 – 2004) Not only was M. Dupraz an outstanding guitar player, an inventor of subtle arrangements, and a remarkable studio animal, but he was also the producer, Mediavolo’s sound-maker. The band’s third founding member left the band in September 2004. He also produced several other bands since 2002: Kanaan, Raid Larsen, Jelly Fuzz among others. He plays the guitar in Kanaan since 2005. Azraëlle (2000 – 2004) After several band experiences and solo projects, Azraelle answered a small add, auditioned, and joined Mediavolo on keyboards in September 2000. She took part in the recording of Perdu dans l’Espace and Soleil Sans Retour, and defended Mediavolo’s music on stage. She and M. Dupraz left the band simultaneously, during Effets Personnels’ pre-production. Right now, she collaborates with Colin Chloe. Fabrice Duhamel (1999 – 2000 / back in 2004) Fabrice was in the band at its very beginning, and took part in the recording of its first demos and concerts. In 2000, Fabrice left the band to engage on the path of becoming a professional. He collaborated with several musicians, performed in quite a number of concerts and recording sessions, playing many musical styles. Mediavolo called Fabrice back, late 2004, right after Azraelle’s departure. He’s been playing the keyboards for Mediavolo’s live performances ever since. Dayv (Since 2004) Dayv took the bass when Jac took the guitar after M. Dupraz during Effets Personnels’ pre-production. He played on 2 tracks of A Secret Sound. Dayv is self-made musician who’s able to play any instrument that falls into his hands: keyboards, guitar, bass, drums. He played with MC Viper until 2005. He’s working on a solo project “Nacht club” at the moment, which should be released in 2007. He has also been collaborating with Stamina, a oriental sounding metal band from Brest for a short while now. Fabrice Louisin (2004-2005) Fabrice played in a world music band called Yog Sothoth for awhile. Right now, he is David Crozon’s drummer, but he also collaborates with other artists such as Arnaud Le Gouëfflec among others. Fabrice was called in emergency during Phylémon’s medical leave. He took part in Effets personnels’ pre-production and played the drums for Mediavolo’s live performances. Eric (Since 2006) Self-learnt drummer, Eric played in a multitude of bands : Jon Mac Jon, Naïma, Mad.ras, and Dogger to name just a few. He played with Géraldine during two years in a band called The Gilbernoïd Experience, from 1997 to 1999. He’s still involved in several bands simultaneously today. Eric’s just joined Mediavolo’s live team. Obion (Since 2001) Obion's been working with Mediavolo since Perdu dans l'espace. He is the designer of their visual world: from cd and website artwork to posters. Yet, Obion is most of all a cartoonist. Vilbrequin, for which he collaborated with scriptwriter Arnaud Le Gouefflec, was published by Casterman Editions in 2007. He is now working with Joann Sfar and Lewis Trondheim on a series called Donjon, to be published by Delcourt Editions.
