A sad faced little fellow is alone and deep in disgrace

There's a lump a-rising in his throat

And tears streaming down his face

He wandered from his schoolmates

For he doesn't want to hear

Their merry shouts of laughter

Since the world has lost it's cheer

In the apple tree so high the robin sings it's merry song

But he doesn't seem to hear it showing plain

That something's wrong

Oh he hates himself for failing

He can hear his schoolmates cheer

For they left him with the duller

And gone ahead a half a year

He sipped a cup of sorrow

He drained the bitter glass

His heart is fairly breaking
