I knew a guy back then it was rad

Now I just missed the last train and I'm broke

I've been trying so hard that I've drowned

I thought about you and I found my self back on the outside looking in

I dug deep in the tenements deep in the snow

Then I lost myself New York style

I could feel in my bones it would stay this way

Right in the heart of a Saturday night

I'm just working on some stuff that I try to write

There was this guy but I got it all wrong

There'll be no marching band after I'm gone
