Hard Romantic

hard Romantic's debut album was "Modern Ambient Colours" in 1996. The album won the hearts of many adult fans with its sweet piano sounds and sentimental melodies. The second album released in 1997 - "Voice of Eros" - added a cool jazzy feel to the music broadening and deepening the existing ambient world. In 1998 "Splendore" was released. This album included the South American pianist Hugo Fattoruso, known for his work with the Milton Nascimento Group. His performance is delightfully emotive. Also, the first performance of a boy soprano on hard Romantic's work is to be found on this album. Liam O'Kane was, at the time ,12 years old and a member of a London church choir. He had already sung with such artists as Elton John and Pavarotti. Liam's angelic voice contributed greatly to the appeal of this album. Liam appeared again on the next album "soprani" released in June 1999 - his beautiful voice is featured on most of the tracks. The mixture of Liam O'Kane's voice and the lucid ambient sound is incomparable to anything else - a truly unique experience. Liam sings a wide range of songs from urban ambient techno hard Romantic originals to classical tunes by Richard Strauss and other classical composers. "Ambient Classics" was released in November 1999. This album is a collection of classical tunes and includes tracks from the previous 4 albums along with two new tracks - remakes of Faure and Villa-Lobos. These classical tunes transcend time and mesmerize us with their gentle, sweet sounds. In October 1999 "Tokyo Sequence 1999 Chopin" produced by Hiroshi Ohhashi was released. This is a collection of Chopin tunes newly rearranged by various Tokyo musicians selected by Hiroshi and the attractive urban contemporary sound became popular with classical fans. hard Romantic produces a high quality performance on the "Mazurka" and "Prelude" tracks. This album spent many weeks in HMV Tokyo's classical chart. Apart from "Splendore" the pianist Chizuko Yoshihiro, active in New York and Tokyo, appears on several tracks of every album. Her cool yet emotional performance adds a wonderful dynamism to the music of hard Romantic.
