作为美国西海岸第一代激流金属之王，Exodus早在1981年就竖起了金属大旗，这支来自San Francisco的乐队的核心人物当属双吉他手Gary Holt和Kirk Hammet。他们的EPWhipping Queen and Death and Domination被公认为海湾地区第一张激流金属作品。而他们的首张正式专辑，1985年的Bonded By Blood 是一张公认的激流金属经典。92年的Force Of Habit推出之后，Exodus宣布解散。但乐队的创始主唱Paul Baloff在此后重组Exodus并开始进行一系列现场演出。并录制了Another Lesson in Violence。这是Exodus成立十三年之后的第一张现场专辑，也是一张总结性的作品，在它推出之后，Exodus再次解散。2001年，Paul Baloff再一次重组Exodus并开始演出。
