'close to me' is an impassioned ode to ex-lovers and failed relationships. While RVND has been known for his witty and energetic flows, he explores uncharted territory with the release of this song, on which long-time friend and collaborator YELLO DICAPRIO is featured.  
 
A break-up in early 2020 left RVND emotionally and mentally traumatized. He coped with that trauma by spending the summer of that year, through lockdown as well, creating a catalogue of heartbreak-themed anthems.
  
RVND has now come to realise that behind every sad ballad written about a romance gone awry is a real experience and pain behind the reason why those lyrics were written. Heartache, despite the extreme discomfort surrounding it, is a shared experience and one that induces camaraderie and a genuine connection between listener and artist. We see RVND mature as an artist, showing his truest self with his walls torn down, heart on sleeve.
