"South Tape" is the latest EP from Yokohama-based rapper MELLMWOR1D, produced in collaboration with fellow South Yokohama native Noconoco.
Consisting of five diverse tracks, the project reflects the duo's shared roots in the city's south side (045), blending street realism, emotional nuance, and genre-spanning soundscapes.

The lead single, "South Side," already a local anthem, samples the official Yokohama City song in a bold and inventive fashion. Over an energetic and melodic beat, MELLMWOR1D lays down a vibrant tribute to his hometown-equal parts pride, chaos, and ambition.

In "Enemy" he questions the binary of good and evil, rapping from the gray areas that define street life. "Sk8er Boy" follows a raw and poetic narrative of a local skater falling for a high-rise girl from another world-crossing class lines through a lens of youth, longing, and reality.

From dark trap to mellow anthems, South Tape offers a stylistically rich, yet thematically unified body of work, rooted firmly in the artist's city while speaking to universal themes of identity, love, and aspiration.

The new single by the next-generation star, who has signed a management contract with the WAVE NRG label and continues to release singles in rapid succession, features Lil Bell Dice, a rising star of the same generation who also won the AREA TRIAL at the audition "RAPSTAR" last year and linked up with the talented Lil Bell Dice at the same venue. The new song is a diss song against the domination of haters in the world.

This is a posse cut produced at the Fall Camp held by WAVE NRG, a label that has produced many popular young artists. 

The camp was held at a certain location in Japan in the fall of 2023, and gathered five young under-25 rappers (PVBLO, Lil Bell Dice, MELLMWOR1D, D-RAM, and Ja¥Da) and label WAVE NRG founder and producer DR. SWING, the label's founder and producer. 

In this project named "WAVE NRG Fall Camp 2023," after enjoying a nabe dinner and excellent sake at an old private house with a garden in the great outdoors, we went into production with the best vibes, using a Laptop PC, audio interface, microphone, monitor system, and SONY ZS-F1. DR. SWING started to build the beat from scratch, and the rappers immediately started to write their own verses.

The rappers recorded their verses in the order they were written, and the microphones were relayed to each other, creating the best posse cut anthem on the theme of love, with some style war elements. 

A documentary video of this camp, including the production process, will also be released.

This project will be continued as a series, and we hope that you will enjoy this song as the second installment following the smash hit "Feelin' It," and look forward to seeing what great songs will be created in the next and future installments.
