虽然罗百吉的汉语算不上流利，但他的父母毕竟是台湾人，由于他的双亲一直在美国，独立自由的他十七岁时，也就是1988年，得到双亲的首肯，便来到台湾学汉语来了。罗百吉边学习汉语，边在舞厅里做DJ，他的疯狂歌舞，让人认识了他这个“音乐小孩”，他当之无愧地成为当时台湾舞曲的代表人物。罗百吉让人惊奇的是，他不仅是一名劲歌狂舞的歌手，他还是一名优秀的音乐制作人和词曲创作人。截至 2010年，罗百吉已经出版了10张个人专辑。与此同时，罗百吉还做过很多音乐的编曲、作曲和歌词创作。
