The Otals

"Lolita Born in the Countryside" was inspired by a scene glimpsed from the window of a rural train-a woman in Lolita fashion riding a mamachari bicycle through the countryside. While the track features a catchy melody and refreshingly bright harmonies, its unique presence stems from the contrast of an assertive hyperpop-style synthesizer layered directly over a swinging, physical band rhythm. The result is a song that balances pop appeal with a certain charming distortion.

As the striking title suggests, the song is built on the conscious mashup of seemingly opposing elements. This thematic duality is reflected not only in the combination of "hyperpop" and"band sound"but also in the collaboration itself: indie band The Otals and multi-talented voice actress and actress Kato Rihona -a pairing that metaphorically mirrors the contrast between"countryside" and "Lolita."

The Otals' audacious ambition to transcend existing frameworks and blur the unconscious boundaries between different types of content finds vivid expression in this distorted yet pop collaboration.

Lolita Born in The Countryside (feat. Kato Rihona)

Kato Rihona (as Aoyagi Tsubaki, of Rondo in "D4DJ", as Tanuki in "Kemono Friends", etc.) is an actor, TV&Radio personality and voice actor from Ibaraki Prefecture. When she was in high school, she commuted from her hometown to Tokyo by train to perform. In the morning, her mother would send her out the front door. When she was late getting home, her father would drive to the nearest station to pick her up. Now, as an adult, She live in Tokyo and continue her performing career. She has a lot of thoughts and feelings, and they accumulate day by day. One day, through a radio job, she met a musician from her hometown, Ibaraki Prefecture, Mr. Mashiko Tatsuro (composer of "Hanamizuki," etc.) and asked him to write a song about these feelings of hers. Her approach to her days and work. Her thoughts on her hometown. We believe that many people, regardless of generation or region, will be able to relate to this.
