Refiloe Maele Phoolo a South African rapper, songwriter, entrepreneur, and record producer born on 6 December 1990. The artist is popular with the stage name Cassper Nyovest and was born & raised in Mahikeng, North West, South Africa. Cassper did his schooling from Sol Plaatjie Secondary School where he was an athlete and partook in various sports. Cassper began rapping at the age of just 12. In 2006, he failed in his Grade 10 exams and that drove him to move to his grandmother's house in Potchefstroom. Cassper has a sister Tsholofelo Phoolo, and a brother, Khotso Phoolo who passed away in 2003. Cassper Nyovest Debut, Musical Journey & Collaborations Cassper is considered as one of the most flourishing artists of South Africa. At a tender age of 16, the budding artist decided to drop out of high school. After dropping out of school, he got signed to Motswako Record Label Impact Sounds, which also signed artists including Tuks Senganga and Morafe in the year 2006, but as the relationship between Nyovest and Impact Sounds soured because of creative differences led both parties to separate in the year 2008 making Nyovest an independent artist at the time. It was in 2004, Cassper Nyovest formed a hip-hop group “Childhood Gangsta” with his friends at the age of just 13 later, he left the group as he wanted to join his group, “Slow Motion” which comprised of eight members including a record producer, Aashish Gangaram of Ganja Beatz. In 2008, Cassper Nyovest relocated to Johannesburg for continuing his career in music as a rapper and producer as he wanted to become a renowned musical artist and convinced his parents. Since then, Cassper has been connected with several prominent artists in the industry such as Anatii, Gemini Major, Tshego, Nadia Nakai, Riky Rick, DJ Sumbody, HHP, Davido, Nasty C, Kwesta, and many more. He has also signed some records which includes Impact Sounds, Family Tree Records, and Universal Music Group Cassper Awards, Albums, Songs & More Nyovest has been awarded and nominated for many music awards regionally as well as internationally. He accomplished four awards at the second edition of the South Africa Hip Hop Awards in 2013. On 13 April, he was nominated at the 12th Headies Award in Nigeria in the category of Best African Artiste beside Nasty C, Sarkodie from Ghana, Kenyan group Sauti Sol, and Tanzanian singer Vanessa Mdee.
