The Stone Keepers

The Stone Keepers, a band from Quebec City, Canada, are the guardians of the hallowed sounds of rock. Blistering guitar solos, soaring vocals, hard charging tempos, and deeply personal lyrics that explore love, loss, hope, and loneliness are the lifeblood of these protectors of rock. Songwriters Michel Bernier (guitarist/vocalist) and Martin Chenard (bassist) met and developed a musical kinship while playing with a local Quebec City band in 2010. The two, who share an intense passion to perpetuate the traditions of rock, decided to join forces and, to ultimately, write, record and produce an album together. The result is their debut offering, Heart Attack. Released in 2013, the album opens with a quick, powerful but playful drum solo suggesting that this first song, “Love Is A Good Thing”, will be a high-energy celebration of love. But going further into it, the lyrics provide an undercurrent of melancholic yearning. “Lost Without You” is a mid-tempo track with a heavy whaling sax solo that leaves a definite impression. The album also includes more hopeful songs such as “Still Believe”, with its stirring sax solos and echoing big hook. “My Soul’s On Fire” is a guitar-heavy ode to love, while “A Girl Like You” is a joyful tune about that one incredible girl. Also featured are straight ahead rockers like “Let’s Roll Again”, a brash lively track featuring an appearance from Elvis and a blistering guitar solo. “You Turn Me On” is an ode to the classic rock arrangement and “Come Back To Me” is an anthem of heartbreak to love lost. In celebration of the genre’s time-honored sonic virtues, The Stone Keepers unabashedly embrace rock’s big hooks, soaring guitars and hard charging tempos for all they’re worth, and it seems certain that—whatever the future holds—The Stone Keepers will continue to protect and perpetuate the traditions of rock.
