Qari Shakir Qasmi The Famous Muslim maulana Shakir Qasmi was a Qari from Pakistan. The noble person is Qari by profession. The Quran reciter was born in India before independence in 1943 at Uttar Pradesh. After the Indo-Pak partition, his family moved to Pakistan where they live now. He was born and brought up in the family of qaris. The religious household set up is the reason behind his interest. Shakir Qasmi was the host of the Children’s television program “Iqra” on the Pakistani channel. He used to teach lessons on the proper way of reciting and pronouncing the Quran in Arabic. Career Coming from a religious-oriented family Shakir Qasmi's interest was inclined towards religious activities from childhood. His family served the local mosque and was involved in teaching activities in the mosque. Not only in the local, but The qari also did many teaching programs on and off-air. He is known for his exceptional common knowledge of the Quran. His children's teaching program “Iqra” which aired in Pakistan. The show gained so much popularity that it was re-telecasted for more than eight years starting from 1978 to 1985 on Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV). After him, the sho was handed over by his younger brother Qari Waheed Zafar Qasmi and later on the famous Qari Khushi Muhammad Qari Shakir Qasmi was not known in Pakistan but also famous across many other Muslim countries. His work is applauded at the United Nations too. Qari Shakir Qasmi is also known as the first person who was invited to recite the Quran in the United Nation. He has many of his recordings and digital translations of the Quran in different languages. Many of his recordings include “Surah Yaseen '' with English translations, “Surah Rehman '' with Urdu translations, Surah Bani Israel, Surah Kahaf, etc. He is also involved in many religious shows. The artist is known for his religious work and upliftment of Quran teachings. The artist is not only famous but has been nominated for various awards for his work. Qari Shakir Qasmi has also received many awards for his phenomenal contribution.
