In 2004 she started a band with her sister Ava “The Kung Fu Girls” selling over 10,000 units independently of their debut album “Thinking of You” produced by Tom Higgenson of Plain White T’s. Touring all across America for 4 years playing House of Blues tours, the Viper Room in LA, to the Knitting Factory in New York. Mia eventually signed to APA Agency on the same roster as Flo Rida, Andrew McMahon, All Time Low, Bayside, Paramore, and many more. Although an active musician since then, her writing career blossomed in 2007 when she wrote “Gimme a Chance” and “Our Time Now” for the Plain White T’s on their record “Every Second Counts”. She wrote/sang on multi-platinum single “Our Time Now” charting at #66 on Billboard Pop 100 and #29 on Billboard Modern Rock Tracks. “Our Time Now” was also featured as the theme song for ABC Family’s “Greek”, appeared on American Idol, iCarly, Wii Cheer, Sims 2, and Ultimate Band. It was also featured in the Disney Channel Original Movie Johnny Kapahala: Back on Board and a Norwegian commercial for As the Bell Rings. Kung Fu Girls came to an end in 2009, but Mia pushed through and never stopped writing. Mia Koo then signed with Royalty Network at 18 years old pitching songs to artists such as Britney Spears, P Diddy, Demi Lovato, Flo Rida, Selena Gomez, Enrique Iglesias and more. She has also written jingles/theme songs with Wind Up Records in NYC and working out of her studio in Williamsburg, Brooklyn in 2012 to perfect her craft. Mia’s track record includes cowriting for/with artists such as Inna, Stacy Clark, Crash Boom Bang, Andreas Schuller, Wallpaper, Eytan and the Embassy, Patent Pending, and Plain White T’s. Her music has been featured on various radio stations across the world, US Billboard Hot 100, US Billboard Pop 100, and US Billboard Modern Rock Tracks, and shows such as MTV’s The Hills, Hard Times with RJ Berger, American Idol, Canadian Idol, VH1′s Tool Academy, and various other TV shows internationally. Mia is currently in the studio recording her new album for her newest solo project after just recently signing a world wide distribution deal with Royalty Network/BFM Digital April of 2013.
