Demons of Ruby Mae
2 āļāļđāđāļāļīāļāļāļēāļĄDemons of Ruby Mae are Jonny Gavin and Adam Rowley, both multi instrumentalists hailing from Leicester. Since forming in 2012 after leaving their former band The Chairmen, the collaborative duo has received praise from the Northern UK blogosphere for what is consistently described as a beautifully haunting and deeply evocative sound. Currently based in Manchester, they have drawn comparisons to London Grammar, Jeff Buckley, Doves and recently Eddie Gibson of The National Student said âOne half The XX - with slow reverberated guitar notes, and one half The National - with piano accompaniment intended to replicate minimalism.â Jonny Gavinâs powerful vocal is the centerpiece of a sparing but mesmerizing soundscape that âinvests in a delicate use of sound rather than trying to fill all the noise cavities for the sake of it.â Their tracks have been played by Whispering Bob Harris, Hattie Pearson at XFM and after appearing on the Beat with BBC Introducingâs Dean Jackson, a video of their performance rocketed to 100,000 views on YouTube. Having recently sold out both the Manchester Academy 3 and the Y Theatre in Leicester, the summer of 2014 will see the release of âBeneath The Surfaceâ followed by the debut EP.
