Alex Williams

Alex Williams believes that the Gospel of Jesus Christ mends broken hearts, encourages souls in despair, and changes lives. As worship leader at The Bridge in Silver Spring, Maryland Alex Williams delivers that message through the music God has given him. Through his songs and recordings Alex Williams delivers that message to all of us. Alex Williams taught himself to play the piano by ear at an early age. After hearing songs on the radio, he would play back the music on an old piano that the previous owners of his childhood home had left behind. As people marveled at his ability, Alex Williams realized that he was gifted. Recognizing his talent, Alex's mother encouraged him to join his church's youth choir, where he eventually served as the pianist. His skills were further honed while singing in his high school choir, where Alex Williams was given the freedom to teach and direct music with his peers. At the age of 19, Alex Williams suffered the sudden and devastating loss of his mother. As he sat crying in the hospital, he affirmed his commitment to God. In that dark time, when words couldn't convey his pain and tears couldn't wash it away, faith and music comforted him. Alex Williams realized that his musical abilities were not given simply to impress people. His gift had much potential to deliver the hop of Jesus Christ. Alex Williams began writing songs consistently, often sharing them in his capacity as a worship leader at several DC-area churches. In 2007, God opened the door for Alex to lead worship at the Going Beyond conferences sponsored by LifeWay. "Alex Williams' skill, gifting, and passion for worship seems to light a holy fire deep within every believer that hears his music," says Priscilla Shirer, national speaker and founder of Going Beyond Ministries. Alex William's debit recording, Epic Salvations, brings that message of hope to the nation and the world through a smooth mix of pop, R&B and worhsip music. Epic Salvation features the hit "Everybody Needs a Hero." Despite an increasingly busy schedule, Alex Williams still manages to carve out time to focus on his songwriting. Most recently, his songs can be heard on "An Invitation to Worship," the sophomore release of national recording artist Byron Cage (Zomba Gospel), for which Alex Williams wrote the popular worship track "Invitation" and the energy-filled "Rain on Me." As he is being led through new terrain and a broader audience, Alex Williams is humbled by the honor to serve God's people. "I'm blessed to be surrounded by awesome singers and musicians who share the same passion," he says. "I'm overwhelmed that God chose me to lead his people in worship."
