Singing backup for a band at Fordham University, Smith was in the studio one day when the manager (and head of BBE Records in the U.S.) heard them perform. A record deal followed shortly and Smith released her impressive debut, For Lovers, Dreamers & Me, a mix of rock, soul, and R&B, in 2006.
