Music for a coffee break or like a coffee break.

This is the first single 'Coffee and Doughnut' from Takahiro Kido, a music composer who is also a member of Anoice, an instrumental music band. After the release of his previous solo EP 'Daily Songs', and in addition to composing soundtracks for movies, TV drama series, and events, as well as performing concert and tours, he has been working on Anoice and side projects; Films, Mizu Amane, and Tokyo Ambient Collective, but this single is his first work as a solo artist in three years.

This single 'Coffee and Doughnut' was recorded whilst Anoice worked on their upcoming new album 'Stories in White', and was made into a gentle and fantastic song that is in stark contrast to those included on Anoice's album. This is also a personal track in which Takahiro Kido did all the creating process alone from not only playing all the instruments such as a piano, celesta, accordion, and organ, and recording them, but also mixing and mastering them and in addition to the release's artwork.

The gentle sound of the upright piano and the charming sounds from toy instruments could give you a moment of peace and pleasure from your busy daily life.

The sound which appears and then vanishes like a reincarnation.

This is the 8th single from Mizu Amane, a side project of Films, a dark fantasy music project formed by the instrumental band Anoice, featuring their cinematic sound alongside two female vocalists with the same name. While Films' songs are sung with their own originally created languages, Mizu Amane features Japanese archaic languages which are no longer spoken.

Just like the previous works from Films and Mizu Amane, Anoice's members took charge of all the production, from composing and recording, to mixing and mastering. This song features not only an emotional piano played by Yuki Murata from, but also one of Japanese traditional instruments, Koto played by Takahiro Kido and Japanese original percussions by Tadashi Yoshikawa. All three are also members of Anoice and play a big role for expressing the mystical sound of Mizu Amane.

This is a fleetingly beautiful song where the short vocal melodies repeat over and over again whilst gradually changing like the sparkle of life.

The sound of the wind that echoes into the moon.

This is the third collaborative work, and the second EP, by Takahiro Kido and Yuki Murata, music composers who also are active as members of Anoice, RiLF, and Films, and ambient music artist, Kenji Azuma, who plays a range of unusual instruments.

The first single 'Ice Mermaid' featured the sounds of an ice and water and their first EP, 'Memories of the Stone' used the sounds of a stone and limestone cave. This time the trio chose the wind element as the theme of the sound for this EP. Just like their previous works, the illustrator, MATSURICA who also takes charge of the artwork for some of the releases from Anoice, Yuki Murata, and Films, painted the beautiful cover in tandem with the music production and each song included in this EP expresses four scenes; from a desolate desert into a lush greenery grassland, a noisy caravan passing by the oasis, a propeller airship flying from the grassland to sky with many birds, and the night flight toward the moon, by the colorful sound.

Takahiro Kido and Yuki Murata created the base of each song with their instruments such as a piano, guitar, synthesizer, marimba, and vibraphone, and then Kenji Azuma added his performance on wind instruments from around the world such as futujara from Slovakia, wot from Thailand, Khlui Lib from Thailand, Khene from Thailand and Laos, and bawu from China, Thailand and Vietnam. You should be able to feel 'wind' that is the theme of this EP from the fantastic, dream-like, and exotic sound. Also, string players and a percussionist including Utaka Fujiwara and Tadashi Yoshikawa who are members of Anoice, joined. Their collective support touts this EP to be the most spectacular work in this trio's releases.

Gone with the Wind

The ephemeral sounds which pursue distant memories.

This is the 7th single from Mizu Amane, a side project of Films, a dark fantasy music project formed by the instrumental band Anoice, featuring their cinematic sound alongside two female vocalists with the same name. While Films' songs are sung with their own originally created languages, Mizu Amane features Japanese archaic languages which are no longer spoken.

Just like the previous works from Films and Mizu Amane, Anoice's members took charge of all the production, from composing and recording to mixing and mastering. The sound tapestry braided by the lovely sound of the piano, played by Anoice member, Yuki Murata, and the nostalgic vocal melodies sung by Films, is the world of Mizu Amane.

Mizu Amane also created the synthesizer sounds which imitate Japanese traditional instruments such as Shou, Tsuzumi, and Ekiro, using them to form some of the sounds of this release. The mystical sound of the Shou is a particularly notable feature of this song. This is a masterpiece allowing the listeners to feel a sense of eternity, which is best listened to on a gentle spring day.

Memories of a cave in ancient times, played by stone.

This is the second collaboration work by Takahiro Kido and Yuki Murata, music composers who also are active as members of Anoice, RiLF, and Films, together with Kenji Azuma, an ambient music artist who plays a range of unusual instruments and the trio's first EP.

It's been only three months since the previous collaboration single 'Ice Mermaid' with the basis of the song's sounds created from materials which are related to ice and water. This time, they will release the four songs-included EP 'Memories of the Stone' featuring the sounds of a stone and limestone cave. Just like their previous work, this song is also based on an illustration painted by MATSURICA who also takes charge of the artwork for some of the releases from Anoice, Yuki Murata, and Films, and it is under the theme of the exploration into a cave. A wolf finds a cave in the forest and gingerly goes into it, and steps forward to the deep as if being invited by the sounds of water dropped on the puddle and bats singing. And then, he leaves his body to energetic dance of the ancient animals drawn on the wall...

Like the previous collaboration 'Ice Mermaid', each artist took charge of playing various instruments, but the most notable point in this EP 'Memories of the Stone' is that they mined Sanukitoids, a variety of high-Mg granitoid found in limited area of Japan and recorded its sound in the forest. You should be able to feel the memories of the long and epic history via the beautiful and clear sound of the stone which has existed since ancient times.

Ice music made from ice.

This is a collaboration single entitled 'Ice Mermaid' made by Takahiro Kido and Yuki Murata, music composers who also are active as members of Anoice, RiLF, and Films, together with Kenji Azuma, an ambient music artist who plays a range of unusual instruments.

This song is based on an illustration featuring a mermaid in the ice world painted by MATSURICA who also takes charge of the artworks for some of the releases from Anoice, Yuki Murata, and Films, and is divided into four parts; the ground, the sea, the seabed, and the finale. The most notable point is that the basis of the sounds of the song are created from materials which are related to ice and water. The sounds of stepping on snow, waves, breathing, whale calling and mermaid's singing. You can feel the cold sea via the sounds expressed by the ice and water.

Also, with each participant take charge of playing their main instrument one after another on each part of the song, it makes possible for this song to expressively convey the world on ice with dignified air to the bottom of the ocean where no sound from the earth's surface can reach. Not only the beautiful tones of a piano, guitar and celesta, or EOX Drum, a kind of steel drums, but also the unique sound of the 'ice marimba' that is an original instrument made up of various sizes of ice, are worth listening.

Ice Mermaid

An ephemeral, but beautiful and emotional masterpiece.

The dark fantasy music project, Films, will release a digital-limited lead single from their upcoming 4th album 'at the deep end' which is also their first album in seven years. The band is formed by the instrumental band Anoice, featuring their dark cinematic sounds and two female vocalists, who sing in their own originally created languages.

This song is a dark fantasy music which features ephemeral and beautiful vocal melodies floating upon the magical sound performed predominantly on piano, harp, glockenspiel, and a string quartet formed by a violin, two violas, and a cello. We're pretty sure that its emotional rise will resonate with you all. As with other songs of the upcoming album 'at the deep end', all tracks were composed by Yuki Murata, who is the pianist admired by many musicians such as the late Ryuichi Sakamoto and Takeshi Kobayashi. Anoice, the cinematic instrumental music group, played all of the instruments, and Takahiro Kido who takes charge of music for many movies and commercial adverts, arranged and mixed all the tracks, then mastered them.

This is an ephemeral, but beautiful masterpiece featuring a little slightly nostalgic atmosphere from Films, highly praised by Nobuo Uematsu who is achieved fame as the music composer for the Final Fantasy series.
