Over the past five years, recent high school graduate Asha Jefferies has been turning her passion into a reality with a little help from a trusty guitar and way too much black coffee. With her distinctively silky vocals and beautiful lyrical melodies akin to the likes of a Joni Mitchell or Missy Higgins, Jefferies displays a maturity beyond her years. Her talent was recognised when she won the Mullumbimby Music Festival’s youth mentorship competition in 2013 and, as a result, Asha was invited to perform at the festival again the following year. In association with Fretfest, Asha impressed at the Woodford Folk Festival Bluestown Stage (2014) where she received a standing ovation from the Woodfordian crowd. Jefferies has supported highly-acclaimed and recognised touring artists such as Ella Hooper, Thelma Plum, Hayden Calnin, Robbie Miller and Devon Sproule. With 2017 in full bloom, the 17 year old writer is nominated for a Queensland Music Award and her live performances continue to receive praise from critics "Her impressive range was like paint on a delicate lyrical canvas, lined with emotional expression well beyond the grasp of your average teenager" - AAA Backstage.
