DSP Entertainment4个创意下的第三个诞生的计划 .1996年在韩国没有一支是身为组合的十大歌手.在韩国最初企化十大组合的DSP 在1996年建立了叫 IDOL 的十大2人组。之后的第2个创意便是水晶男孩（SECHS KIES）。 DSP为了建立一支十大女子组合便创立了FIN.K.L。 FIN.K.L 这个名字是在网络上公开征求而得到的团名，其实是「Fine Killing Liberty」的缩写。 Fine字在法文中是"结束"的意思，而Killing liberty则是英文的"扼杀自由"，结合了法文及英文的团名，则成了一个具有强烈个性和战斗力的强悍代号，叫「释放自由」。
