澳大利亚邮政每年都要发行一套《澳大利亚传奇人物》纪念邮票,这套邮票的主题传奇人物是谁只有到这套邮票的首发日才知道。2001年1月25日，这个系列的第5组邮票2001年传奇人物终于撩起了面纱，这个人就是在2000年悉尼奥运会闭幕式上演唱《跳华尔兹的马蒂尔达》的词曲作者和歌唱家Slim Dusty，他用他的歌曲忠实地记录了澳大利亚人的生活和历史，他在乡村歌曲的创作和演唱方面的成就尤其显著,为此澳大利亚邮政还授予他一张带有这枚邮票图案的金质大碟。这次发行的两枚纪念邮票分别表现了现在的这位歌唱家和他20岁出头时的照片，Slim现在还健在，他已经获得过31个金吉他大奖，而且会在2001年澳大利亚乡村歌曲颁奖晚会上演出，今年他将推出的他的第100张专辑。
