96 FollowersMadlib本名Otis Jackson，来自洛城以北四十公里的海滨小镇奥克斯纳德（Oxnard）。Madlib自幼便在黑人文化的熏陶下接触各种音乐，从爵士、Fusion、布鲁斯到疯克和灵魂乐老歌，再到他最为痴迷的说唱音乐。Madlib几乎未曾想过此后他竟然会成为一名精通各种黑人音乐的Hip Hop音乐家。学生时代的Madlib和从小一起玩儿大的邻居一起尝试着做Hip Hop音乐时，他便在其中担任了各种角色：MC、DJ还有掌握大局的制作人。正是基于此时的磨练，才让Madlib如今身怀各项绝技。直到九十年代末期，他才决定终身于音乐为伴，Madlib的才华也开始令世人折服。2002年，Madlib出版了他的首张个人专辑，而这张名为《Blunted in the Bomb Shelter Mix》的唱片，竟是一张十分精彩的Raggae作品。
