长期以来，In Flames不但是Nuclear Blast的摇钱树，更是潮流的风向标。正是因为他们2002年的专辑《Reroute to Remain 》引领了如今的“金属核+旋死”风格世界性范围的狂潮，颠覆了传统的哥德堡之声，被更多喜爱新金属的年轻乐迷所拥护，成了极端金属界名副其实的老大哥（手下的小弟不计其数，嘿嘿）。此次新专辑《A Sense of Purpose》与COB一样选在4月份发行，看来不是想一拼高下就是想携手捞钱。一般来说，极端金属唱片里的歌曲数量是很少有超过10首的，因为这种音乐听久了会有单调感，听了多少首都像一首。但In Flames在这一点上绝对让大家放心，他们准备了15首（日版）精心炮制的打榜歌曲，而且刚柔并济，整张听完畅快淋漓，丝毫没有听觉疲劳之感~~要说到这张专辑的改变，那就是，更旋律化了！上一张专辑《Come Clarity》如果说是给人以手忙脚乱的感觉的话，那么新专辑《A Sense of Purpose》就绝对是一次大调整，所有歌曲都显得那么游刃有余，从容不迫，张力十足，而且吉他SOLO的成分居然有增无减。不过唯一遗憾的就是他们曾经的招牌式双吉他SOLO被弱化了，不过并不影响这张专辑成为2008年金属TOP10的热门首选！
