The album was recorded in a home studio in Kanagawa, Japan, with an emphasis on a dreamy acoustic sound with an intimate feel. In addition to its roots in indie pop and neo-acoustic, the album incorporates folk, ambient, shoegaze, slowcore, emo, and various other genres, in addition to elements of folktronica and ambient, such as droning synths, electric piano, rhythm boxes, and glitch. The album also features open-tuned guitars on all the songs. The use of open tuning on the guitars for all songs gives the album a strange sense of unity.
