우리는 1을 사람으로 보고 서로를 바라본다는 어찌보면 시각적인 의미로 다가갔다.

1+1가 1이라면 하나가 된다는 의미에서 좋고 2라면 2배의 기쁨과 즐거움이 있으니 어떤 의미로 생각해도 좋다.

오랜만에 오로지 둘만 호흡을 맞춘 Dok2와 Illson a.k.a 더블케이. 그리고 약 일년만에 발매하는 SOMDEF의 싱글 트랙인 ‘Reality’는 이전작과 사뭇 다른 느낌의 힙합 곡으로 다가올 그의 첫 정규 앨범을 예상해보기에 충분할 것이다.

우리 삶에 중심이 되어주는 ‘시간’은 때론 고맙기도 내 맘 같지 않을 때는 밉기도한 존재이다.
한해의 끝에 다다를 수록 다가올 설렘과 과거에 대한 아쉬움이 머리 속을 자주 오가는 요즘.
시간이라는 주제를 사람에 빗대어 표현한 이 곡을 통해 차분히 한해를 돌아볼 수 있었으면 한다.

[Some Definition of Love]


‘너에게 사랑이란?’ 이라고 묻는다면 당신은 어떤 대답을 할까? 

누군가에게는 설렘, 누군가에게는 슬픔이나 애틋함, 또 누군가에게는 뜨거워지는 마음 혹은 배려하는 마음 등 자신이 처해있는 현재 상황이나 지난 경험을 바탕으로 다양한 대답이 나올 것이라 생각한다.

나를 비롯해 이번 앨범에 함께 한 모든 아티스트들은 앞선 물음에 대해 5곡의 음악으로 대답한다. 

‘너에게 사랑이란 어떤 곡과 어울리는가?’

What would you answer if you were asked, ‘What is love?’

Love means a lot of different things to different people. Based on the current situation you are in, or past experiences you have had, one could think of love as thrilling and exciting or as sorrow or sadness.

On this album, all the artists, including me, tried to give their own definition of love through the songs we worked on.

세상에 단 한사람만 보일 정도로 상대를 향하여 뜨겁게 달아오른 감정의 끝을 노래한다.

03. All Good (Feat. 죠지)
연인, 가족, 친구 등 내가 사랑하는 누군가 어떤 일로 힘들어하고 있다면 어떻게든 힘이 되어주고 싶은 마음이 생긴다. 그런 마음을 담은 노래이다.

04. 일교차 (Feat. Hoody, BewhY) (Love Degrees)
사랑에서 비롯된 안 좋은 감정들도 있다. 권태기라 불리는 때에는 하루에도 시시각각 남녀 사이에 서로 다른 사랑의 온도 차이가 생긴다. 지금 우리 사이의 일교차에 관한 이야기다.

연인을 해와 달에 비유하여 헤어짐을 앞두고 느낄 수 있는 서로의 소중함과 애틋한 감정을 이야기한다.

Some Definition of Love

360 사운즈(360 Sounds)의 디제이/프로듀서 썸데프(Somdef)가 오랜만에 싱글 "링링링(RING RING RING)"을 발매했다. 

썸데프의 비트 위에서 아티스트들은 한 여성을 묘사한다. 같은 여성이지만, 그들의 관점은 조금씩 다르다. 버벌진트는 그녀의 선한 모습을, 디피알 라이브는 섹슈얼함을 풀어낸다. 하지만 팔로알토는 제3자의 입장에서 그녀의 거짓된 매력을 이야기한다. 카더가든은 그 사이에서 자신이 한심하면서도 어쩔 줄 모르는 남성의 상황을 재치있게 풀어낸다. 

그들이 곡에 녹여낸 감정은 일상과도 매우 가깝다. 그런 만큼 곡이 주는 상황과 감정을 느끼기는 어렵지 않다. 만약 당신이 현재 이와 비슷한 상황에 있다면, 버벌진트, 팔로알토, 디피알 라이브, 그리고 카더가든 중 누구와 가장 가까운지 떠올려보자. 그냥 듣는 것보다 그들의 목소리가 더 깊게 와 닿을 것이다.
