The Sailor Song

As she lay across her bed that lonely night

The pictures of her life went passing by

As the lightning brightened up her darkened room

Her tears like falling rain came pouring down

Only he who'd put her here was on her mind

Though she loved him more than life he did not care

She had put all her love into him then he went away

Now she laid with folded hands prepared to die

Oh what a fool she was to give him love

A sailor boy was he

He coldly stole her heart

And he carried it to sea

And now he's gone and as she lay alone to breath her last in sin

The sailor never thought of her again
