Let's Pretend

Let's Pretend - The Northern Pikes

Let's pretend that Catholics

And Protestants are friends

Let's pretend that everyone

Is free in East Berlin

My three friends are equal

Though they're never quite the same

Let's pretend that everybody

Has the same last name

What is your favourite colour

Is it the same as mine

Grey grey grey grey grey

Grey grey grey grey grey

Let's pretend that man and

Wife stay true until they die

Let's pretend that children

Never learn to cheat or lie

My two friends are happy and

Contented and quite sane

Let's pretend there never was

An Abel or a Cain

What is your favourite weather

Is it the same as mine

Rain rain rain rain rain

Rain rain rain rain rain

Ocean wind making me shiver

Making me come alive

Let's pretend The Beatles

Never broke up after all

Let's pretend that Jesus

Came back down to save us all

My one friend is always

In my body and my mind

Let's pretend that prisoners

Are pardoned for their crimes

Who is your favourite uncle

Is he the same as mine

Shame shame shame shame shame

Shame shame shame shame shame

Shame shame shame shame shame
