Til the End of Forever is a treat for die-hard Boltheads. The first half of the album is comprised of freshly minted material that follows the tried and true Bolton formula: well-polished, accessible ballads tempered with upbeat numbers that are wholly inoffensive to the ears. Duets with Liz Sharpe and Jim Brickman help pick the first half up when it could have easily dragged on into monotony, and it ends with a reggae version of Bolton's hit "Said I Loved You...But I Lied." Although it's inexplicable as to why he felt the need to re-record the song in this style, it is nevertheless enjoyable. However, it's the second half of the disc where Bolton truly shines. In a ten-song concert that also doubles as a greatest-hits survey of his career, Bolton tears his way through hit after hit with no filler in sight. While this may not be the ideal place for newcomers to start exploring the mighty Bolton catalog, Til the End of Forever is a must-have for die-hard loyalists.

  导演加布里尔·穆奇诺称本片是“一部依靠表演驱动的电影”，他表示找不到比克劳更适合去演绎这种父女感情戏的演员，同时，穆奇诺也对这部影片信心十足，“它令人心碎的同时也令人振奋，对我来说，它就像是会令人回忆起70年代《克莱默夫妇》《飞越疯人院》那样经典美国电影的一部影片。”

At two discs and 32 songs, 2006's The Essential Michael Bolton is by far the most comprehensive Michael Bolton collection ever assembled; at 17 tracks, the previous Bolton comp, 1995's Greatest Hits 1985-1995, was nearly half the size of this set. Longer isn't necessarily better, at least as far as the average Bolton fan is concerned, since every one of Bolton's biggest hits is on the 1995 collection. In the decade that followed the release of Greatest Hits, Michael Bolton was a fairly regular fixture on the Adult Contemporary charts but had only one hit that crossed over to the Billboard Hot 100 — "Go the Distance" in 1997 — which means that there wasn't much from the late '90s and 2000s that crossed into the popular consciousness the way that "How Am I Supposed to Live Without You," "How Can We Be Lovers," and "Said I Loved You...But I Lied" did. Anyone just wanting those hits, along with other '80s and early-'90s singles as "(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay" and "Soul Provider," would be better off with Greatest Hits, but listeners who want to dig a little deeper into that classic era and the years that followed are well-served by The Essential Michael Bolton, which covers both eras equally by serving up all the big hits (minus "Love Is a Wonderful Thing," which has been written out of Bolton's history) and selected album tracks.
