Sir John Phillip William Dankworth, CBE (20 September 1927 – 6 February 2010), known in his early career as Johnny Dankworth, was an English jazz composer, saxophonist and clarinetist.[1][2][3] He was the husband of jazz singer Dame Cleo Laine, who survives him; they married in 1958.[4]
