San Francisco, United States Jeffrey Halford is an American roots rock singer-songwriter from San Francisco, CA. Halford released his self-titled debut album in 1991. Since 1999, he makes records as Jeffrey Halford and the Healers. The band’s latest album is called “Broken Chord” and was released in 2007. Born in Dallas, TX, Jeffrey Halford grew up listening to country music artists like Roger Miller and Johnny Cash. In 1963, he relocated with his family to Los Angeles, CA. The family moved numerous times between Los Angels and San Francisco. Halford lived in, among others, Torrance, Berkeley, West L.A., Westchester, and San Mateo. He drew is musical influences from artists as diverse as Ray Charles, Dave Brubeck, Johnny Cash, Joni Mitchell, Elvis Presley, The Beatles, The Beach Boys, and Buffalo Springfield. In high school, Halford did not attend classes very frequently and only visited when there was a test. He also had some trouble with the law. Things changed when his father presented him a guitar when he was 16. After graduating from high school, Halford attended an architecture school in San Francisco. During that time, he joined Jimmy Ventilator and Harry Spider, a street band who played songs from the likes of Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry, Robert Johnson, and The Ventures. For more than a year, he played guitar in the band.
