Part of Verve's Jazz in Paris series, Dizzy Gillespie and His Operatic Strings Orchestra is a reissue repackage of two early'50s releases, Jazz From Paris and Dizzy and Strings. Featuring the legendary trumpeter working with a mostly French jazz band and string orchestra, it is by no means essential listening. However, it does measure up to the innovative jazz legend's other recordings.
