Zebra Live

As I mentioned in my review for their first album, Zebra gave a free concert (yes, FREE, believe it or not) at Queens College in May of 1987. I was a sophomore at the school then, and it totally made my year to see them, up close & personal, playing live before a standing-room only crowd. They played for an hour and a half, during most of which I was standing about 20 feet in front of the stage. I missed my last class of the day, and I totally didn't care. They played blistering versions of most of their songs, the ones I remember most fondly are "Who's Behind The Door?," "She's Making You The Fool," "Wait Until The Summer's Gone," "Better Not Call," "Bears," and of course their wonderful rendition of the Zep classic "The Ocean." With all due respect to Led Zeppelin, isn't it amazing that it takes just a 3-piece Zebra to do what a 4-piece Zep did? I think that, right there, speaks volumes about the talents of Randy Jackson, Felix Hanneman, and Guy Gelso.
