Boston native and London based Kelly Sylvia comes correct with a second stomping EP released on her own underground imprint, Blood & Stone Recordings. MUSAE is a 3 track package with a little something for everyone sitting on the deep and techier side of the house fence. The original mix of the title track, Musae is a percussive bumper with hard stabby synths leading the groove relentlessly before vocal snippets of “Gonna make you sweat” boom out of the speakers. The K-One Inspired Dub is the more stripped down mix with emphasis on solo drums and subtle minimal Korg sounds softening the lead synth, leaving room for a deep swing and grooving bassline. Entre Nous rounds off the package with a of a nu-skool twist on an old school east coast vibe and more trademark stabby vocals. A late night rendez vous with a seductive and almost ethereal feel. You don't need to listen intently to hear that this sophomore effort - packed with just as much confidence as her first EP and with as much stylistic deepness as she's always been known for in her DJ sets - defies the theory that beginners only succeed with luck. More to come from this talented and quickly rising new producer in 2011.

Entre Nous

After turning the right heads with her first few EPs, DJ, producer and vocalist Kelly Sylvia takes a new direction with her latest single ‘Remedy’, which is set for release on her newly launched imprint Blood & Stone Music. ‘Remedy’ is a track written, sung and produced by Kelly herself and one that defines her as a unique voice in electronic music. What makes this single stand out are her sultry, soulful vocals and evocative songwriting; musing on love, her voice and lyrics transmit raw emotion whilst maintaining a dancefloor vibe: part disco, part house, part avant-pop, ‘Remedy’ kicks off with a Main Mix that’s both uplifting and bouncy, with oscillating synth lines and a bassline that’s tailored for the bumping dancefloor, whilst the Deeper Dub switches more sparse vocals into burred echoes for the darker corner of the club. The Original Vocal is built on a bed of popping kick drums and run through with percussive hooks and daubs of rich synth. Leaving more space for the vocal and song structure, this mix is a simple but tasteful affair with crisp production. With roots tracing back to the New York club scene and a track record DJing all over the world and on UK radio - it’s no wonder Kelly has such a fulsome and widely informed sound as well as the skills to make something truly unique. Using Blood & Stone music as a platform for unbridled creativity, Kelly continues to explore her versatility as a producer, songwriter and vocalist.

Remedy

Puncturing the soundproofed walls at Studio K in London’s creative hub of Dalston, comes an inspired third release by Blood & Stone Recordings’ main lady Kelly Sylvia with an intelligent remix from S2000 (aka Soy Mustafa). “White Lies” is a subtle yet adamant builder with an ethereal feel and melancholic undertones. Starting on the front foot with a heavy stomping kick and deep driving synths, the tone is set for an consistent pumping groove that climaxes into pure hypnotic deepness. The haunting keys are definitely the feature of this track. Flirting randomly with her trademark layered, techy synths, this unique juxtaposition creates a serendipitous contrast between deep and uplifting, tension and release. This track definitely lends itself to the deeper dancefloors [S2000 Rendition] On remix duty Cinematic Label’s Soy Mustafa goes under his S2000 guise, working an energetic mix that’s defined by restless, punctilious beats and a riding sine bassline. The use of subtle delays on a deep pulsating 909 creates a confident swing and warm rising groove. Clean, intelligent and matter of fact, with this mix Soy creates a hybrid of electronic minimalism that exudes a warmth and depth reminiscent of his classic signature sound
