The 1980 self-titled album by Zapp (by Roger and Zapp Troutman) is one of the finest funk albums ever produced. Listen closely for the influences of Bootsy Collins (producer) and Parliament/Funkadelic. The hit single from the album, More Bounce to the Ounce, introduced the world to Roger Troutman's trademark use of the vocorder, but the real gem of the album is the slow and sultry Be Alright. There is not a bad cut in this six song album. If you're a fan of late 70s and early 80s funk, this selection is a "must have".
